How long does it take to learn Spanish?
According to the US Foreign Service Institute, about 30 weeks of full-time classes (750 class hours) for English speakers to reach professional working proficiency. Part-time learners take longer; one or two lessons a week plus practice gets you to real conversations much sooner than that.
Is Spanish hard for English speakers?
It is one of the easier ones. FSI puts Spanish in Category I, the group of languages closest to English. Verb conjugations and ser vs estar are the usual stumbling blocks.
Should I learn Spain Spanish or Latin American Spanish?
Pick the one you will use. The differences are mostly pronunciation, some vocabulary and the vosotros form used in Spain. Tell your tutor which one you want and they will adapt.
What are the official Spanish exams?
The DELE diplomas (A1 to C2) from the Instituto Cervantes, and the SIELE, an online test also backed by the Instituto Cervantes.
